Founded in 1876 by George Henry Bass, G.H. Bass began with one man and a simple mission: “To make the best possible shoe for the purpose for which it is intended.” In 1936, the brand gave an elegant twist to a Norwegian farm shoe designed for “loafing in the fields” and playfully dubbed it Weejuns – thus introducing the world’s very first penny loafer, the Weejun.
