After 18 years of learning the process of making headwear, Ehrhardt Koch launched New Era in 1920. In the 1930s, baseball became an increasingly popular sport in the USA. Even back then, players wore caps to protect themselves from the sun. New Era then began the production of baseball caps, and the success was immediate. In fact, by 1934, New Era became the official cap supplier for the Cleveland Indians.
